Ice Cream Cone Macarons
Ingredients:
- 3 large egg whites
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 cup almond flour
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- Brown food coloring gel
- Ice cream cones
- Melted dark chocolate for dipping
- Sprinkles for decoration
Instructions:
Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper first
Beat the egg whites in a mixing bowl until soft peaks form
Add the granulated sugar gradually while beating the mixture until stiff peaks form
Add the almond flour and powdered sugar to the egg white mixture by sieving it
Till everything is well combined, gently fold the dry ingredients into the egg whites
Once more folding the batter until it is smooth, add the vanilla extract and a small pinch of salt
Separate the batter into two halves
To create a brown color that resembles ice cream cones, leave one portion plain and color the other portion with brown food coloring gel
Until the coloring is mixed throughout the batter, fold it in
Spoon each batter into a different piping bag with a round tip
To make the macaron shells, pipe tiny rounds of the plain batter onto the parchment paper
After every round, give yourself some room
Next to each macaron shell, pipe the brown batter into the shape of an ice cream cone
To release any air bubbles, gently tap the baking sheet against the counter
Allow the macarons to rest for approximately half an hour so that a skin can form
Set the oven temperature to 300F 150C
Bake the macarons for 15 to 18 minutes, or until they have developed feet and are firm to the touch
Take them out of the oven and leave them on the baking sheet to cool completely
After theyve cooled, carefully dip each macarons bottom into melted dark chocolate, letting the excess drip off
Sprinkles should be added right away to resemble ice cream toppings
Once the chocolate has solidified, your Ice Cream Cone Macarons are prepared for consumption
