Classic Sushi Rolls
This recipe provides a basic guide for making classic sushi rolls, allowing you to customize fillings according to your preference. Sushi rice is seasoned with a vinegar mixture and wrapped in nori seaweed sheets along with assorted fillings.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups sushi rice
- 2 1/2 cups water
- 1/2 cup rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt

- Soy sauce, for dipping
- Wasabi, for serving
- Pickled ginger, for serving
Instructions:
Run cold water over the sushi rice until the water is clear
In a rice cooker, put rice and water together and cook according to the manufacturers directions
Melt the sugar, salt, and rice vinegar in a small saucepan over low heat
Allow to cool
Place cooked rice on a baking sheet and drizzle with the vinegar mix
Mix slowly to combine
On a bamboo sushi mat, put a sheet of nori
Leave an inch of space at the top of the nori and spread a thin layer of rice over it
Line up the fillings across the middle of the rice
Start at the bottom edge of the bamboo mat and roll the sushi tightly
With a sharp knife, cut the roll into small pieces that are easy to eat
Put it on the plate with pickled ginger, soy sauce, and wasabi
